Volunteers Working with the Community for Progress

DDA Board Members

Robert Kemper is the Chairperson of the Downtown Development Authority Board, and likes to keep his bio brief and breezy.  He began his career as a hotel doorman at nineteen.  He still holds doors and assists guests with luggage every day.  Robert has served on the Harbor Country Lodging Association Board, City of New Buffalo Business Improvement District, and the City of New Buffalo DDA.  He looks forward to working with all members of the community on improving New Buffalo.

Ellie Mullins is owner and operator of LOCAL in New Buffalo, a specialty grocer that focuses on sustainably raised meat and produce among other things. She received her undergrad in political science at the University of Santa Barbara California. She and her husband made their home in Harbor Country in 2010.

Doug Roch is the owner of Beachside Scoops in New Buffalo. He and his family have lived in the area since 2005, and in late 2014 they joined the efforts on north Whittaker St with the purchase of Mooney's Blue Moon. Doug loves raising his kids near the beach in New Buffalo and is thrilled to have his two young girls in the New Buffalo school system.

Pete Rahm is Co-Owner and Managing Broker of the Keller Williams Realty office in St. Joseph and New Buffalo. He has been a licensed Real Estate agent for 19 years and prior to that spent 28 years in the Michigan State Police.  Pete and his wife Sue work out of their office, which is located next to the Subway Restaurant on Whittaker Street in New Buffalo.

Joe Lindsay has spent the last decade working behind the counter at David's Delicatessen on Whittaker St.  For Joe, the best part of the job is interacting with the people who live, work, and visit New Buffalo.  He is still not David.

Dee Dee Duhn is founder and owner of Customs Imports in downtown New Buffalo and Publisher of the New Buffalo Times, publication of record and official Newspaper for the City of New Buffalo.

Karen Gear has owned a business in New Buffalo for over 25 years and is happy to be part of the New Buffalo Business Community.  A lifelong resident of Harbor Country, Karen is excited to see the New Buffalo Master Plan coming to life and is happy to be part of this process.  The view of Lake Michigan from her office at New Buffalo Savings Bank reminds Karen that New Buffalo is a great place to live, work, and play.

Pete Weber is the Mayor of New Buffalo, and serves on the DDA board in this capacity.  His sunny disposition and squeaky clean manner of speech are on display during city council meetings, and at his jewelry business downtown.  In his free time he enjoys long walks on the beach, and curling up by the fire with his two dogs.
